Rio Linda Invites Rush Limbaugh To Be Its Grand Marshal At Centennial Celebration

Rush Limbaugh may have spent the majority of his career mocking Rio Linda, but that hasn’t stopped the town from inviting the nationally syndicated radio talk show host to be grand marshal at its centennial celebration in October.

“He’s given us a hard time but he’s also given us press,” said Mike Grandinetti, a Rio Linda resident and facilitator of the Rio Linda Centennial Committee. “Plus this place is kind of home to him.”

If he says yes, Limbaugh – who hosted a Sacramento talk show on KFBK (1530 AM) in the mid-’80s –will get a chance to ride in a hot rod in the centennial parade before moving into a dunk tank meant to raise funds for the restoration of a fire truck.

“The ideal would be to get him into the dunk tank,” said Grandinetti. “I would love to make that happen.”
